  • FTP is short hand for file transfer protocol and as you would guess, it is one of the ways that you can upload files like plugins, xmls, css, php, images, and scripts. One of the features that the Initiative offers in our roleplay hosting package is the ability to use FTP to upload your files. This guide will show you how to connect using your FTP software.

  1. Go to your cpanel. Not sure how?
  2. Once you're in your cpanel, click on FTP accounts.
  3. Scroll down and under Special Accounts, find your main account. This is identified by the little male icon on the left hand side, under the type column.
  4. Click Configure FTP ClientCapture.PNG
  5. A new section will expand.
  6. Click on SFTP Configuration File for the software that you are using.sftp.png
  7. Click on Instructions (new window) for details on how to use the SFTP configuration file. Using the configuration file means that you do not need to enter any of your site details into your ftp software, as the configuration file already contains all of those details.
  8. Once you've done all that, you're in!
