How to link an image

  • I've noticed that some people don't realize how to link an image here on the Initiative. Since BBCode is deprecated and HTML is not allowed there are a few ways to link images that aren't very obvious.

Now there are a few way to add an image to a post, status update, signature etc so we're first going to explain those:

Copy and Paste - If you copy an already linked image into the editor it will retain the link. You can verify that by following the directions below.

Copy the URL to the image into the editor - The editor will take a second but it will automatically convert the image URL into an image. A message will come up at the bottom of the editor advising you that you can undo this and make it simply a link (like with any formatted text).

Copy the image and paste it into the editor - This will upload it and it will appear both in the editor and at the bottom in the uploader.

Drag and drop the image into the editor or upload drop zone - This will upload it and it will appear both in the editor and at the bottom in the uploader.

Once you have the image in the editor you can double click on it. This will bring up a popup that gives you a few options, the first of which is the Link URL. Enter the URL and edit any of the other options and click save. And then submit the post and like magic your image will be linked!
