What is this thing?
Softaculous Apps Installer is included as part of your hosting service with the Initiative. This application can install and upgrade software to your site for you.
If you have installed your forum software using the Softaculous Apps Installer you are able to upgrade your software with a few clicks of the button! If you are unsure as to whether or not your software was installed using Softaculous, check by clicking on the Softaculous Apps Installer. Softaculous will list what apps have been installed using this application. (Follow the first step of this guide if you are not sure how to find Softaculous.)
How to do the thing:
Log into your cpanel and scroll down to Softaculous Apps Installer
Click on Softaculous Apps Installer and you will be redirected a new screen. That new screen shows you how many installations you have, if any of them are outdated and how many are backed up.
Click on There are 1 Update(s) available.
You will be redirected to a new screen that lists any software that needs updating.
Click on the blue arrows to be redirected to the following screen.
This final screen is where we final click on upgrade. It will verfiy the file path and your URL. Before clicking upgrade, ensure you tick the Create Back Up box. Now click upgrade!
Softaculous will now perform the upgrade for you!
