An ahistorical-fantasy, about the “Napoleonic Era”, circa 1810s. LRS presents a captivating and intricate world, immersing players in an alternate version of 18th and 19th-century France, at the zenith of the French Empire; its surface exuding imperial opulence and grandeur, yet beneath this facade lies a domain shrouded in secrets, conspiracies, and enigmatic forces. An alternative French Empire, using complex themes, magic, and political intrigue intertwine to craft compelling narratives.

What character types are you tired of seeing? What would you like to see more of? Personally, I have yet to see a character from Mexico. A handful from Spain, no Mexicans. Which is a weird thing to notice, but I had too much time to think. I'm also terribly tired of the Girl who had wonderful childhood, has a single bad thing happen and then her parents shun her/she can't handle it and freaks out characters.

So I love skinning and making things pretty and everything. I mean DF is my tweak time fun. I'm actually working on possibly starting a custom web design company based on the influx of customer's I just got. That being said I was wondering, within the roleplay world, what are your least favorite trends? What is it that makes you cringe every time you see it used. I think mine are huge waste of space banners. I understand that they are there to be flashy and (sometimes) have the information that used to go in a sidebar but really!? Do you have to have a banner that nearly spans 1200px in height to cover my desktop screen? Favorite ones from here:

On the reverse of this topic: What are your favorite skin trends? What makes you happy to go to a site every day? What makes you feel good about staring at something? I think I'd have to say... I still love sidebars. aka I can't think of anything.

Hey all! I'm looking for some fresh contest ideas for our board. These can be anything from posting contests, to raffles, to IC-events (entwined with contest themes), etc. I find it hard to find innovative contests because Google's often a dead-end and surfing around forums isn't always helpful, so I'll ask here and hopefully get some willing contributors lol. Have you hosted a contest before that has gone well that you'd be willing to share? Honestly, at this point, all ideas are welcome, even concepts! Thank you all ~

I bought rpgs tabletop books called Cha’alt, which I can best summarize as a mix of Zardoz and Dune (at least before I can sit down and read it). If you’re familiar with other tabletop games, think Dark Sun, with a decent chance the Kool-Aid man will break out of a random wall that you’ll have to fight. It contains a massive black pyramid dungeon as it’s main centerpiece. Here’s part of a review: “If anything, the “Hail Gonzo!” room perhaps best exemplifies the dungeon: There, a statue of the great Gonzo can be found; lingering here has a half-demon show up, and whisper essentially a quest-hook to the PCs. Fumbling around with the Gonzo statue will open a secret compartment in the crotch, which contains a damaged trumpet. Blowing this one manifests Buddhist monks, who proceed to set themselves on fire, in a macabre way of lighting the room.” – Thilo G. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product_reviews_info.php?&reviews_id=386813&products_id=284600 Cha’alt is categorized as gonzo. This means everything and the kitchen sink. It tends to have humor, be surreal at times, have tonal shifts, etc. For movies think Killer Clowns From Outer Space, Phantasm, Monty Python and the Holly Grail, Time Bandits, or Suspiria (the original). This brought me back to the world of forum rp. We don’t have a lot of gonzo. When I look at various directories I see the same genre subjects done in the same way. Harry Potter, Supernatural, High Fantasy, Sci-Fi, are all ripe places to go crazy, but there’s a resistance to do so. I’m not entirely sure why. The biggest estimated guess I can give is the fear of loss of control by the creator(s) or the sad fact that most people just aren’t that creative. I’m told I’m creative, but it can take me months or even years to come up with a decent concept or idea. Once I get going, it’s better and more like a matter of weeks, but getting back into the habit takes me some time. When I’ve looked at sites on directories, I often find myself feeling restricted. Most of my character concepts can’t work even with tweaking. I have characters that are humanoid plants, are the personification of nothing, etc. They don’t encourage true creativity. One such idea I want to return with is to bring back Agostina somewhere and have her meat tenderizer weapon have the soul of a vapid stereotypical valley girl named Tiffany stuck inside of it. Maybe make it teleport and so Tiffany can be separate from Agostina. I’ve had some ideas knocking around for a few site concepts. I may write more about how or why I came to the results in future blog posts. I want to encourage creativity in potential future members as well as myself. I’ll write more about how I hope to do that and also have an open discussion with all of you so we can bounce off ideas. Until then, don’t be afraid to go gonzo! Cha’alt kickstarter:

Hi there! I am 19 and I’ve been roleplaying for a few years! I love roleplaying fantasy, medieval fantasy, angst, and romance based stories! I don’t like fandom stuff or slice of life and I prefer using original characters in fantasy lands filled with action and adventure!! There’s a lot more to it than that and I have a lot of specifics in mind however I don’t know if I should put that all here? Oh well, greetings and it’s nice to meet you all!!

I have been working in project management, so I am accustomed with project launching meeting (ie official opening) and project wrap-up meeting (ie official closure). How can it be done for a site's official closure? I am looking forward to ideas, knowing that there would be a few more months of preparation until actually implementing them. But until the end of the year, my site will close. Our main story will end. How to close the site festively, to thank our beloved members for keeping up with us, some for as long as 9 years, some for 7 or 5? I have a few ideas. Some of them I want to be a surprise for them. But I am looking for more ideas from you: - there will be a youtube movie celebrating our characters and their story arcs, (we used to do for the previous volumes of the story, but never did for Caribbean Dawn) - I am thinking about opening a future timeskip area, in the next months, allowing for threads showing some characters after a few years, so a sort of epilogue. - a CD with songs inspired from our story, to be sent to all members (we did some for the previous volumes of the story). Anything else you may think of?

I.... struggle so hard with writing good open threads that people find it easy to hop into and roleplay with me. I feel like I never know when to end them at a comfortable place or I always provide too much detail in the opening (and it gets looong). I admire people who can write a short, particularly simple opening thread and leave so much potential. I don't know how to do this. I really need some guidance. Anyone have some sound advice for me (and anyone else that's struggling)?

So how much does your favored media influence your choice in face claims/playbys? Like if you watch a lot of anime, is that why you prefer anime face claims? If you're into popular movies, does this influence the faces you decide to use? I believe that what we consume in the media definitely has some kind of bearing on the visual reps we decide to use. I was thinking about this because I do tend to use RL Asian faces because that is the media I'm most acquainted with. But I also consume, say, Stranger Things (I use a few faces from it) and other things, etc. Or do you guys purposely choose people you don't know? How about you artists? Do you prefer drawing your characters? Let's talk about it!

So when you're posting, which is your preference: linear or liquid? Why? I personally have a very difficult time arranging things in my mind when I have a character in more than one thread at a time. (Which is happening right now and it's giving me so much anxiety, I hate it!) This is one reason I tend to have a number of characters: so that I'm able to play a bunch of threads at once but one at a time per character. Obviously, I will play a character in more than one thread if asked but my personal preference is NOT to. How about you guys?

Ok so I'm just curious as to whether I'm the only freak here that's had a dream about a character or not. In my case last night, I had a dream about someone else's character. I used to role play with this girl a while ago and she had this character who was severely anti-social. I had a dream about him, his name was Punk. Wasn't sure whether I should run from him or not. Anyone know the character from Lee Child novels (or the movie) Jack Reacher? Kind of like him but with more of an inkling to murder people except like, just a very select couple people.
