  1. On the reverse of this topic: What are your favorite skin trends? What makes you happy to go to a site every day? What makes you feel good about staring at something? I think I'd have to say... I still love sidebars. aka I can't think of anything.
  2. IT'S UP TO YOU TO DECIDE THE FATE OF THE GALAXY. Across the Stars is an intermediate-level AU Star Wars role play set in 3 BBY • sixteen years since Order 66 and a few years before the film A New Hope. The shroud of the Dark Side has fallen. In the sixteen years since the fall of the Jedi Order and the end of the Clone Wars.
  3. We're a premium, 18+ site. The war between mutants and humans has infiltrated every part of society: from neutral zones and businesses to hostile territory patrolled by sentinels. Genesis is an AU X-Men roleplay that focuses around the everyday lives of both ordinary citizens and their more gifted neighbors. The X-Men, the Brotherhood, the Hellfire Club, and more are all pieces upon an ever-shifting chess board. Will you be a pawn, a rook, or maybe a king? Join today!
  4. Akatsuki is a mature, AU Naruto roleplay. We have seven villages to choose from, you can start at any rank and in any clan, and all of our positions and open slots are available to newbies! Akatsuki has an AU timeline but our lore and concepts are based off the original series. Whether you're a new fan of the anime/manga or a longtime veteran, you're welcome here!
  5. Shade

    Frontier

The year is 2384. On the edge of Federation space, Frontier Station orbits the newly colonized Kerelia, and serves as a base for the Sovereign-class USS Denali. Danger and adventure await her crew on the outskirts of the Beta Quadrant, as with the Dominion War over, Starfleet once again looks toward the unexplored. We are an active, friendly community, and offer several RP scenarios to suit different play styles and levels of posting activity. All are welcome; join us on the FRONTIER!
  6. War once ravaged the galaxy, but a bright light brought peace and prosperity in the form of a goddess. But now, the beautiful silver moon turns red with blood, leaving the universe to question why? The Golden Millennium begins now, and as the clock ticks the Sailor Guardians and Champions must rise up against their impending doom! Will you be able to stop it? Or will you fall under the rays of the "Cosmic Silver Moon."
  7. Hidden in the Abyss is a original warrior cats roleplay forum, loosely based on the books by Erin Hunter. This is considered a semi-literate community, with a minimum 100 word count and a site rating of 3-2-3. We are a player-driven community, meaning that the actions taken during gameplay have real consequences on the clans and can ultimately shape where the site goes.
  8. Chosen of StarClan: A New Dawn is a Play-By-Post Role Playing Game set in Erin Hunter’s Warriors universe and geared towards the more mature roleplayer.
  9. Attatar

    Traverse

original sci-fi/fantasy - Every world in the multiverse is on a collision course with the others, and when the reality of one planet spills into another, the effects are catastrophic. Although they fight tirelessly to combat these Traversal Events, the Travelers, suffering from dwindling numbers and failing technology, are now losing the war. Meanwhile, the myriad worlds march on, unaware of their place in the multiverse, their struggling defenders, and the danger that threatens them all.
  10. Our Homeland is a realistic wild horse rpg. With no magic, crazy colors, or humans in the world of Our Homeland, horses must rely on wit and prowess to survive. Realistic scenarios such as natural disasters, predators, overpopulation, territorial qualms, and more could threaten any life throughout Our Homeland . . . and it could take a miracle to ensure survival. Taking inspiration from equine rpgs of the past, we hope you can call this place your homeland too!
  11. What character types are you tired of seeing? What would you like to see more of? Personally, I have yet to see a character from Mexico. A handful from Spain, no Mexicans. Which is a weird thing to notice, but I had too much time to think. I'm also terribly tired of the Girl who had wonderful childhood, has a single bad thing happen and then her parents shun her/she can't handle it and freaks out characters.
  12. Established in 2018, Absinthe is the largest and most established Historical Victorian London site. Our group is closely knit and incredibly welcoming to newcomers. We are an 21+ community with mature themes, canon characters, and lots of want ads. Come explore the darkness and the macabre history of a bygone era with us on Absinthe!
  13. An ahistorical-fantasy, about the “Napoleonic Era”, circa 1810s. LRS presents a captivating and intricate world, immersing players in an alternate version of 18th and 19th-century France, at the zenith of the French Empire; its surface exuding imperial opulence and grandeur, yet beneath this facade lies a domain shrouded in secrets, conspiracies, and enigmatic forces. An alternative French Empire, using complex themes, magic, and political intrigue intertwine to craft compelling narratives.

    Charming

Charming mixes the fantastic universe of Harry Potter with the culture of Victorian England.
  15. So I love skinning and making things pretty and everything. I mean DF is my tweak time fun. I'm actually working on possibly starting a custom web design company based on the influx of customer's I just got. That being said I was wondering, within the roleplay world, what are your least favorite trends? What is it that makes you cringe every time you see it used. I think mine are huge waste of space banners. I understand that they are there to be flashy and (sometimes) have the information that used to go in a sidebar but really!? Do you have to have a banner that nearly spans 1200px in height to cover my desktop screen? Favorite ones from here:
  16. Welcome to Star Wars Odyssey, an international role-playing community for mature gaming enthusiasts and fans of the STAR WARS universe. Our RPG is a hybrid of West End Games D6 SWRPG and the D20 SW Role-Playing Game by Wizards of the Coast. We pride ourselves on our family-like atmosphere and easy-going camaraderie. Our door is always open to newcomers, both beginners, and veterans, alike!
  17. P&C is a stylized fantasy animal roleplaying game. P&C has a 3/2/2 rpg rating, no word count, and a laid-back & inclusive atmosphere.
  18. A laid-back, coastal, no WC, RL RP. Lotus Cay - where life moves a little bit slower, so we can all enjoy the view.
  19. Ice

    Amaryllis

Amaryllis is a semi-realistic lion rpg, situated in an African-inspired landscape and overlooked by the land’s creator, Maua. We are 18+ with a 100+ word count min. We are a thriving community with over 80 active members and over 200 ic accounts. Come join us!
  20. NATURE OF LIONS is a AU historical rp set in the mid-Elizabethan era. Step foot into a sixteenth-century version of England, Ireland, and Scotland as NoL explores the fraught relationship between these three countries. Although grounded in history, we have plenty of opportunities for both familiar names and OC characters alike to have large impacts on the world.
  21. I looked a few pages back but I don't see one of these. So what are your characters doing right now?
  22. Hey all! I'm looking for some fresh contest ideas for our board. These can be anything from posting contests, to raffles, to IC-events (entwined with contest themes), etc. I find it hard to find innovative contests because Google's often a dead-end and surfing around forums isn't always helpful, so I'll ask here and hopefully get some willing contributors lol. Have you hosted a contest before that has gone well that you'd be willing to share? Honestly, at this point, all ideas are welcome, even concepts! Thank you all ~
  23. I bought rpgs tabletop books called Cha’alt, which I can best summarize as a mix of Zardoz and Dune (at least before I can sit down and read it). If you’re familiar with other tabletop games, think Dark Sun, with a decent chance the Kool-Aid man will break out of a random wall that you’ll have to fight. It contains a massive black pyramid dungeon as it’s main centerpiece. Here’s part of a review: “If anything, the “Hail Gonzo!” room perhaps best exemplifies the dungeon: There, a statue of the great Gonzo can be found; lingering here has a half-demon show up, and whisper essentially a quest-hook to the PCs. Fumbling around with the Gonzo statue will open a secret compartment in the crotch, which contains a damaged trumpet. Blowing this one manifests Buddhist monks, who proceed to set themselves on fire, in a macabre way of lighting the room.” – Thilo G. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product_reviews_info.php?&reviews_id=386813&products_id=284600 Cha’alt is categorized as gonzo. This means everything and the kitchen sink. It tends to have humor, be surreal at times, have tonal shifts, etc. For movies think Killer Clowns From Outer Space, Phantasm, Monty Python and the Holly Grail, Time Bandits, or Suspiria (the original). This brought me back to the world of forum rp. We don’t have a lot of gonzo. When I look at various directories I see the same genre subjects done in the same way. Harry Potter, Supernatural, High Fantasy, Sci-Fi, are all ripe places to go crazy, but there’s a resistance to do so. I’m not entirely sure why. The biggest estimated guess I can give is the fear of loss of control by the creator(s) or the sad fact that most people just aren’t that creative. I’m told I’m creative, but it can take me months or even years to come up with a decent concept or idea. Once I get going, it’s better and more like a matter of weeks, but getting back into the habit takes me some time. When I’ve looked at sites on directories, I often find myself feeling restricted. Most of my character concepts can’t work even with tweaking. I have characters that are humanoid plants, are the personification of nothing, etc. They don’t encourage true creativity. One such idea I want to return with is to bring back Agostina somewhere and have her meat tenderizer weapon have the soul of a vapid stereotypical valley girl named Tiffany stuck inside of it. Maybe make it teleport and so Tiffany can be separate from Agostina. I’ve had some ideas knocking around for a few site concepts. I may write more about how or why I came to the results in future blog posts. I want to encourage creativity in potential future members as well as myself. I’ll write more about how I hope to do that and also have an open discussion with all of you so we can bounce off ideas. Until then, don’t be afraid to go gonzo! Cha’alt kickstarter:
  24. Hi there! I am 19 and I’ve been roleplaying for a few years! I love roleplaying fantasy, medieval fantasy, angst, and romance based stories! I don’t like fandom stuff or slice of life and I prefer using original characters in fantasy lands filled with action and adventure!! There’s a lot more to it than that and I have a lot of specifics in mind however I don’t know if I should put that all here? Oh well, greetings and it’s nice to meet you all!!
  25. I have been working in project management, so I am accustomed with project launching meeting (ie official opening) and project wrap-up meeting (ie official closure). How can it be done for a site's official closure? I am looking forward to ideas, knowing that there would be a few more months of preparation until actually implementing them. But until the end of the year, my site will close. Our main story will end. How to close the site festively, to thank our beloved members for keeping up with us, some for as long as 9 years, some for 7 or 5? I have a few ideas. Some of them I want to be a surprise for them. But I am looking for more ideas from you: - there will be a youtube movie celebrating our characters and their story arcs, (we used to do for the previous volumes of the story, but never did for Caribbean Dawn) - I am thinking about opening a future timeskip area, in the next months, allowing for threads showing some characters after a few years, so a sort of epilogue. - a CD with songs inspired from our story, to be sent to all members (we did some for the previous volumes of the story). Anything else you may think of?
