Adoptables vs. OC

I don't find myself picking up adoptables or wanteds often if at all. The main reason being that I enjoy making my own characters and putting them out there. I usually find premade characters unable to grab and hold my attention.

I think the majority of my characters have been OCs, but I have picked up some adoptables/Wanted/Looking fors before and I've only ever had one of those turn sour which was nothing to do with the character and everything to do with OOC things happening. Some of my deepest roleplaying experiences has been with a sibling adoptable I picked up. I helped flesh out the whole family history with the creator, but they did give me quite a bit of license to add my own spin on things.

I think if an adoptable is too narrow and too specific, it can be difficult for someone to get into the role and feel comfortable in it. Broader applications with some caveats work best in my experience.
