need help to orient myself on IPS Character Manager

Sorry if my first topic ends up in the wrong forum. This layout is a bit confusing to me 🙃

 

I stumbled across the "IPS Character Manager" in the IPS marketplace: https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/9503-ips-character-manager/ and followed a link so I ended up here.

 

Questions! 🙂

 

Is that mod still purchased via the marketplace? there are topics here that suggest otherwise but I can't figure out where one would do that here?

 

Is there a possibility to do a test-installation with a demo key? or would one just purchase the mod and in case all goes wrong return it? I usually setup new mods in the test-forum and see how it behaves before I shock my users.

 

Feature-Wise (didn't find it in the features list): is there a restriction in the AdminCP to restrict what forums have these characters enabled?

We have stopped selling the mod in the IPS marketplace, it is not available to purchase here instead. 
 

In the link above there is more information about the mod and features. Once purchased, the mod can not returned or refunded. 
 

As for your question, yes there is an option on the admin side to restrict what forums the character mod can be used in.

You can test the Character Manager here on the Initiative.

 

I haven't fixed some of the visual issues due to our theme but you can create characters here:

Could add some screenshots from the AdminCP where permissions on groups and forums are set that enable / disable the mod? That should do for me 🙂

 

And for the heck of it... where do I purchase the mod here? Under files there is just a support link to a forum and the message that I can't download the mod (well obviously). But how is that done? I clicked on everything in the navigation I'm a bit lost 🙄

hmm in our forum the role playing forums a just a bunch compared to the non-rpg forums. I rather enable it than disabling it. But it may do.

I figured out why the purchase button was missing. Might be obvious for everyone... but here I stand. You have to join that "coterie":

Right. This site is not intended for roleplaying so its disabled more than anything. We chose the "disable" route for it as a real roleplay site is going to have fewer forums to disable the mod on than to enable it on.

This is the group you're in. We disable Character creation for the prospective (pre-ten posts) group due to issues where we were getting people joining and creating pornographic character accounts. When you hit 10 posts the new character button will pop up.
