Thoughts on Face Claim Rules/Trends

When I was roleplaying, I actively preferred the use of dead singers and actors. Mainly actors, because I was writing historical and there were so many beautiful historical movies starring Errol Flynn, Alain Delon in his youth, Sarita Montiel, Yul Briner, Jean Marais, Pierre Brice... and many others. I am going for the character look, not for the actor per se. My Sword Angel is Alain Delon in Into the Sun or in Rocco and his brothers, not in any later movie. My Maribel is Sarita Montiel in Carmen, la de Ronda and in no other movie. And the list can go on...

Yes, I see it as casting, as if the writing was a movie. The same I am imagining when reading a book, and why (unlike the trend of readers) I do like having the movie characters on a book covers if the movie exists. And I do not like anime or drawn avatars in RPG, because it alters my immersion. My characters are real people, not cartoons! In the worst case, I would accept classical painting portraits, because they also represent realistically real people.
