A roleplayers peeve moments

We all have moments during roleplays that we get annoyed by something or someone, which is very frustrating. So here the thread in which we can vent said frustrations

I just hate it when I am trying to form a sentences but I can only come up with a Dutch saying and not find a proper English replacement for that. It makes me feel like what I am trying to say does not really come across.

Also when you are working on a post and your internet decides to be fucky, you loose that post and have to re-write it. Half the time I don't feel like I have enough energy/muse whatever you wanna call it and write it out again.

I know I am double posting but what irked the shit out of me was when someone came up to me asking if I was interested in certain genre. As we talked it became clear we had different interests and she left with, "Well just so you know, most of us want to do X and not Y. You should put that in your request so that its clear. Just a tip." my gosh what got you up your high horse...

When you get far too attached to certain characters to the point where if someone snubs them/you/a plot of theirs, you feel terribly burned even when you know it's not sensical to be that way at all.

When someone uses a face you have in a want ad and they're not answering your want ad with it    T_T     T_T     T_T      :tear:       :notwhatimeant:        :rain:

Please don't come to me first without a plot. I have enough going on in my life without having people come to ME and ask me to do all the work for them. If you come to me first, at least have an idea in hand first. Don't expect me to come up with something tailormade for you just because you asked. I'm not a plot dispensing machine and quite honestly, I don't look all that favorably upon roleplayers who can't even come up with a couple plot ideas for their OWN characters.

And same goes for a plot page. If you're going to post one, include actual plot ideas, not just "Jane's going to need her dad and her best friend at some point." Okay? So... Give Dad and Best Friend an actual plot idea and maybe someone will actually reply!

Edit: On top of that, those new people who complain because myself and the other members have "too many characters" and they don't want to check through all their profiles. Nobody's asking you to look at ALL of them. Just skim a few and check out their threads. I don't get that luxury because you're new and you only have one character profile to read. I don't get to look at posts and writing style the way you do. As a new person, you can make a call on who best fits your roleplaying style better than I can.

When you post on someone's plotter with an idea of how the characters could have known each other plus the beginnings of a plot for a thread for them....and instead of helping you flesh out the idea or even just picking a good location for their character to be found you just get

"ok"

@Red Star That is so annoying, when that happens I never know if they are really interested in the plot or are just giving a polite response

@Amelia Right? ;_; I hate it. And makes me not really want to plot anymore. Like, wow ok, you're not as excited about this as I am maybe?? D;

Also when you write something into your post that you were considering as kind of significant/something your partner should definitely address in their reply, and then you sit there all "heehee, their reaction will be great 8D"

And then they ignore that bit of your reply when they post again.

@Red Star Ooh yes, or you think something will shock the other roleplayer or their character at least and they just brush it off as if it is nothing.

Yeah! Guh, it bothers me. If someone bothers to write in a particular thing...for the most part, I feel like they are hoping to see some reaction out of the other character, or at least acknowledgement from the other writer, one way or another. I do my best to give realistic reactions to stuff that happens! n_n Hopefully I am successful. xD

I could think of these all day, ngl.

When people constantly tell you "I'm posting for you tonight after work!" and then they don't. But then the next day "Sorry about last night, I'm getting 100% caught up today though, no distractions!" And then they don't. BUT THEN, "Oh man, yesterday was busy! 8D Don't worry, definitely posting today." But then they don't. And so on. Like I don't mind waiting weeks for replies, that's totally fine, but for the love of God don't promise me something that might not happen.

Christ, so many peeves to list! *does that make me a bad player? hdghsfh)

Bullet list, because of reasons:

  • Like @Red Star said, the Yes-Men. If you corner me for a specific plot, character, setting, genre, whatever: I offer ideas, and ask for yours? The last thing I want to hear from you, are variations of the following: Yeah. Ok. Alright. IDK, whatever. I'm up for anything. I don't really know. Kk. I don't know what to do with my character. Can you tell me how s/he would react?
  • Players who expect you to drive the scene all by your self. Yeah, no. Go away. It takes two to tango.
  • Players who answer your ad or generally pounce you for an RP.. and it's obvious they want X, though they ask for Y. You can usually tell by certain phrases they use, IC. I get this (or used to get it a lot, back when I played character Z), people offering their vulnerable, fragile damsels.. and pushing for non-con/rape fantasies. Nopenopenopenopenopenope. What makes players think that once they've tricked their partner into starting to write ____, that person can't simply say no, drop the thread, run away, etc? I'm not going to stick around and continue writing something that I hate, let alone never agreed to in the first place!
  • Applicants who ignore the staff's requests. No, you didn't fix your app, all the gratuitous spelling errors and lore mistakes are still there. Amongst others.
  • Players who keep promising posts, and it never happens, yet you see them actively advertising (and accepting) new 1x1s. (this isn't you, you know who you are! <3 person who experiments on a certain bulldog.) This other partner of mine, ffs. Started back in October 2014, still waiting, still getting promises nearly every weekend. Nothing's happened beyond that, but X has time for new 1x1s. SAD PANDA.
  • Staff who get uppity about advertisements. Excuse you, but I use the same rules as many other staff. Post once a month, double ads get deleted. Someone at your site keeps spamming mine, don't get on your high horse and tell me off for deleting posts. :T
  • The whingers. 'I want to join but I want a canon role one that's important I want plot but can you give me ideas I don't like these ideas I want more btw can I have X's role? they're not around a lot I bet I can do better' etc etc.
  • 'I know this is a ____ game.. but can I bring in /insert completely different concept/game-breaking canon/OC'
  • 'Why do I have to log into the board?'
  • 'is this site active?'
  • 'players who don't read anything, especially IC posts. If.. you really hate the idea of reading, then you're in the wrong hobby~

NGL I panicked for like a minute "D8 OH GOD THEY HATE M--" and that's when I finished reading the rest of that line~ xD

LBR though, I just dropped three boards that were sticking to me like old ham, and it has left me with this GLORIOUS LIBERATING FEELING, so I can and will actually post this weekend 8D If not sooner~ If I haven't posted by Sunday evening kick me~

moremoremore-

To continue on @Archaic Cyborg's thing about people asking for X when it's obvious they want Y, this guy literally just threw his character at mine in a horrible porny display of ~love~ and they had never even met before, his character and mind. D: Poor Brody jerked away and was all "the F, dude??" It was soooo awkward.

ROFL, I added that line because I saw you had joined DF, and I didn't want you thinking this was about you! If I was really pissed at you, I'd.. be a mature adult and talk to you about things. =D!

That feeling is always amazing; I got overwhelmed by it last year, in a 1x1. That person was draining and stressful, and ending the sl helped a ridiculous amount.

And if you don't post, I'll spam you with passive-aggressive gifs like so:

Awkward 'HEY LET'S WRITE THIS IT'S FANON/CANON' needs to be easier to deal with! 9.9/10 the other player will flip when you openly reject their plot, or you have your character react (ICly) and changing the direction of the thread. gdfgfsdgdhs
