Surprise: Write Me a Limmerick

Recommended Posts

Because I'm in the mood to read some poetry!

Here are the rules for a limmerick:

A limerick is a humorous poem consisting of five lines. The first, second, and fifth lines must have seven to ten syllables while rhyming and having the same verbal rhythm. The third and fourth lines only have to have five to seven syllables, and have to rhyme with each other and have the same rhythm.

Example:

A wonderful bird is the pelican.

His bill can hold more than his belican.

He can hold in his beak

Enough food for a week,

But I’m damned if I see how the helican.

There once was a girl named Bo Peep

She had a bazillion flocks of sheep

whose fur was always so chique

and always looked unique.

How so; no one knows as they got no sleep.

There once was a young lass who could party.

She said, "I'm really quite arty!"

Her name was Morr.

And sometimes she swore.

Be really she is quite a smarty.

There once was a site full of writers.

Such cheeky and talented blighters,

they like to give pokes

so much the site smokes.

And then they go pull some all nighters.
