What genre were your first rps in? (Member & Staff)

When I first started RPing, it was on HorseLand, and it was a wolf pack rpg.

Don't know how those correlated, but they did, and when HorseLand updated to what it is now, I transferred to Jcink and Proboards, trying out different genres until I found my home.

My first 'quote-unquote' rp, was a chat-based rp in a subforum of a fanforum for a youtube series called Stupid Mario Bros. Yes. Really. It was dumb and I was young and there was so much god-modding but it was my first introduction into RP.  Then I moved to the official warrior cats fan forums before they closed. Then mainly shifted over to an HP site for about... 10 years.

As for staffing, I modded for a couple of HP sites, but never ran my own as an admin until lst week which is Cyberpunk

I started rping by writing Twilight fanfiction lol. Still, the first "Roleplay" website I got myself into was PJO themed and PJO still has a dear place in my heart.

Technically Dragonball Z, but I'd hardly call what I did at the time roleplaying (I was like 11). My first real longterm RP genre was cyberpunk/fantasy similar to Shadowrun. The first RP I ran myself was Fallout based.

I remember in middle school, my friends and I would pass a notebook around and roleplay horse and pony characters, so I suppose that kind of counts!

As for online roleplay, I remember joining a My Little Pony discussion board at the ripe age of 11 (knowing very well that they only allowed people 13 and older - I truly felt rebellious doing it) and my favorite section was the roleplay section. I really don't remember what we wrote about but I absolutely enjoyed the prospect of writing about ponies with strangers on the internet, so...

My first many boards were Scandinavian. The very first one was a Harry Potter themed one, but the school was not Hogwarts, but instead some other magical school. I remember playing a girl who had a giant chamelion.

I was like... 13. Our posts were stricly oneliners and it was chat-based rather than forum. We made fun at that for a long while after, only to now have chat-based rp's be the new generations favourite thing.

My first RP was a Warrior Cats forum that I joined when I was in middle school. It's been almost 15 years since but I'm still in contact with friends from there!

My first ever RP was on Hogwarts Online, which was entirely because I wanted to join a different Harry Potter site, but they had an incredibly rigorous application process that I didn't understand and completely messed up. I also didn't really know how to RP at all, so everything I wrote was a bonafide train wreck.

After that, I mostly spent time on Goodreads and Shelfari, which were in RP groups instead of full sites, and it was on there that I had my first staffing experiences. It's also where I first learned how to write properly and built up my experience that would allow me to feel confident enough to join more sites later on.

I used to RP on the roleplaying sections of fan forums. Who remembers fan forums?

I'm just a normal dude.

I can't remember 100% but it was probably like "Pool Party" or Harry Potter role plays in AOL chat rooms. I don't think I got into forum role play until after I was exposed to Neopets in 2000.

My very first roleplaying site I joined was a Star Wars rp by the name of SW88. I have run my own starwars rp sites since them, as well as a few DC/Marvel (combined) roleplaying sites as well.

My first experience roleplaying was on a hybrid site called Mugglenet Interactive (shoutout to any MNIers that may be here!). It was many moons ago when I was young and new to writing. We're talking one-liner posts, which is fine but as I've grown and matured in my writing, my past one-liner posts make me slightly embarrassed. But you've gotta start somewhere right?

When I first started, I was about fourteen or fifteen and my friend made a wolf RPG on Invisionfree.

Kicked around on that for a while, then played on some horse RPS before moving to supernatural by the time I was about 16. I haven't left that genre 😂 Though I did dabble in some Ancient Greek RP a couple of years ago.

It's not really a "genre" but I would pop into random rps on Neopets. Usually warriors or those egg hatching rps people used to do.
