As a member of staff my main pet peeve is when players try to get at other players by using staff itself. Communication is key or all parties involved, so if and when there is an issue people should be able to communicate it well enough. I've had my fair share of players mistaking my generally friendly demeanor to try and befriend me, only with the sole intent of using whatever perceived influence they have over me, in order to benefit them in the end. I have the distinct feeling that this is a learned behavior, that has worked for them in the past. Not that it does them much good with me but it still annoys me.

As a regular player however to me it is all about the general vibe I get from the community and the staff team in general. Not every community is made for every player, and not every player is made for every community. If I approach someone about a wanted ad and I am largely ignored, I take notice. Especially if then said wanted ad is bumped everywhere again. Complaining across the main chat area, whether Discord or anything else, also tunes me off to a community. I write to have fun and tune out from my own stuff. I don't need to take on anyone else's.

Flat character's with trauma-filled backgrounds. I get there are SOME sad characters--but all of them? Also when people constantly HOUND you for updates.

When I join a site, I haven't even made a request thread or even told much about myself as a roleplayer, but I'm getting messages from people wanting me to roleplay their depraved ideas.

DMs badgering for romance or smut threads because I have a sexually active female character. I mean I'm not opposed to such threads or topics. But when the only reason I'm getting hounded is because my character is female and has had sex before... it makes me super uncomfortable. Maybe just open with having a regular interaction first and see where it goes. This I guess also goes hand-in-hand with asking to write with my character, but then not acknowledging their characteristics. I had a manipulative woman once who was not interested in romance. She was mostly a silent observer. Anyway, another writer wanted to thread which was great, but he wanted my character to pine over his guy and proposition him, fall in love etc. I kept telling this person that doing so just really wasn't in character for her, so I'd try to offer other ways to get our characters to interact or simply bump into each other and he just kept hounding it, even IC. HIs character literally asked mine why she was so into him even though she'd barely said a word to him yet. *sigh*
