HTTP ERROR 500?

I've been getting an "This page isn’t working. sitename.rpginitiative.com is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500" error for hours at a time on my site. It's not happening on any other sites, and I can access the ACP on a different url even when getting that error on the main board. Nothing's changed in the site recently, no new themes or extensions or anything. Anyone got an idea on what might be causing it and what I could do to change it? I'm using phpbb as the site software.

Check your cPanel's error log. It should tell you what went sour (if you don't understand what it says, copy-pasta it here). If it's not outputting anything at all, let me know that, too.

I think that's what you're asking for, but I could be wrong. Let me know if you were looking for something else.

I'm looking for something like this:

[Sun Aug 19 16:33:03.703025 2018] [:error] [pid 23002] [client 192.168.1.1:54389] error details here.

This should have a specific error that is causing the 500, but there are a huge number of things that can cause 500s (I can legit go type one thing in a source file and instantly cause one), so for anyone to figure out what went wrong, we'll need the actual error's output. If you're not sure if it's catching it or not, you can visit the site so the 500 error comes up and then reload the error log immediately after. If nothing's changed, it's missing it, and it's either a PHP or configuration problem.

Fun fact: Client denied by server configuration means they're being server-level blocked from accessing whatever-it-is. IP addresses denied by .htaccess or Apache's virtual host declarations tend to spit those out.

@kita this is probably a permissions problem. What are the permissions for that config file???

Those were the only error messages present in the log. I revisited the site and nothing got added. How would I know what part of the PHP/config is screwed up?

I have no idea how to check.

Hey @kita in the future huge issues like this create a support ticket. After some extensive looking this appears to be an issue with the theme. Please submit a support ticket with accurate administrative login details and we will be happy to look further.
