Specifically looking at Deadwood (cliche I know) and the 1870s. I'm finding that websites tend to gloss over daily life* and focus in on the personalities. I've probably been spoiled by Bennerson Little who really brought sea life to well, life. But that kind of micro detail is what I'm after. Any resources would be greatly appreciated! * Yes it was lawless and dirty and there were prostitutes and gunslingers. I'm sure the story is a bit more complex than that though. Ducksters Education Site Geared more toward young people, but it some good information embedded. Western Characters - TV Tropes For a more fictional slant on an old west site (i.e. influenced more by TV and movies than straight historical fact). The Western - TV Tropes Also with a slant more toward the fictionalized version of the Wild West. History - American Civil War Reconstruction Information on the post-war reconstruction period. Hygiene in the Old West - True West Magazine Medical Advances Timeline: 1866 - 1899 History of the Real Deadwood History: Native American History Of course, Wikipedia is always a great place to start too. Reading articles on specific places often leads to other good links. 1 Someone somewhere went to sleep and dreamed us all alive. Dreams get pushed around a lot, and I doubt if we'll survive.
