What is the Characters feature?

Question

Hey guys, love the site, totally confused by the characters section. Is that for some RP on this board of some sort? Is it just a repository for cool OCs? Not sure what to make of it, but it looks interesting and like you put a lot of work in it so I'd like to see if it's something I could use or have fun with.

Thanks!

The character mod feature is indeed for RP here on The Initiative (as well as being there for other IPS based forum runners to experiment and add to their sites as a sort of character archive and replacement for the traditional app system). That's one of the functions of our Coteries. Members can build them for networking purposes, like the The Easel or Modern Fantasy Circle; similarly they can also create coteries for role playing like the 1x1 Fun, which is where the majority of the listed characters are used right now.

Our coteries are a great alternative to forums. They're simpler to set up and use, especially for more niche role play subjects.

It's the character mod @Morrigan is working on for IPS 4. This is where you can test it and stuff! I think you can use the characters wherever RP is allowed.
When you make a character, a dropdown should appear under the reply box which will allow you to use the character as an alias! Hopefully, this helps!
