Preferred Genres

  • Preferred Genres: Medieval Magic, Historical, Science Fiction
  • Specific Preferred Genres:

The majority of what I'm looking for with this is more medieval/historical fantasy or just medieval/historical in general. I have a current forum where I scratch my modern fantasy itch, but medieval settings were my first love and I've been too far from them for too long. I tend to stray away from fandoms, but I would be willing to do a Dragon Age/Game of Thrones setting if you had a plot I happened to be super pumped for.

About Me

Heya! I go by the name Wolfe or some slight variation on most sites, and I'm looking for some RP buddies. I'm doing AmeriCorps this summer, and I don't want to commit to another full site without knowing if I can stay for more than two months but I do want to scratch that itch for a few different genres. I've been roleplaying on and off since I was around 9 or 10, and am presently 22 so I have quite a bit of experience in my specific style. I post in a very internal and emotion based way, if that makes sense, so I tend to click with both very character focused roleplayers like myself or people who tend to write about more external things and give me more tools to play with. I've actively been trying to become more of an 'active' writer I guess and be more helpful in moving the scene along, but that is something that I do 100% struggle with still.

The way I was taught to write early in my roleplaying 'career' has stuck with me all these years and kind of cemented me in this internal driven style. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is debatable, but just as a heads up so you know what you're getting into. I can provide a ton of writing samples as well if requested, as a way to kind of illustrate what that means rather than just going off of my awkward description of it.

Play Style

Do your characters control their own actions or do you have control of your characters?: Characters control their own actions. I can predict with varying accuracy what they will do, but ultimately I will go with what feels right for the scene and the character at the time of the writing. I don't shoehorn what I want or expect to happen if I get the feeling at the last moment they would react differently. As far as I'm concerned, as a writer and roleplayer it is my job to create what is essentially a living, breathing human being with their own distinct personality. Since I play characters that are wildly different than myself, I can't always predict especially in the early stages how they react to things.

Do you allow people to god-mode or power play your characters without permission?: Depends on the level of trust. I feel like some level of this is required for most action scenes, especially when characters fight each other. I tend to be the one who likes to take initiative during those scenes since writing action scenes is my comfort zone, but if I trust the other writer to stay true to the character by all means. Especially if there's a massive skill gap in whatever activity they're doing, by all means have my character get wrecked!

Do you like rapid fire or to wait a few days for a post?: It depends on how much time I end up having. I love rapid fire and some of my best memories are from there, but I doubt I'll be able to do it very often at this point so I'm extremely flexible as long as that understanding is present between all roleplayers involved that we'll get to the post when we can.

Do you stand on your head while you type?: I wish I was that talented.

A note about character type -- I tend to work with one one trait or concept and work from there but one thing I really try to have bleed over into each of my characters is a type of passion and intensity for whatever they do. On a Dungeons and Dragons alignment chart, I tend very much toward Lawful Good and Lawful Evil characters who fully believe that what they're doing is morally right and will FIGHT for their beliefs when push comes to shove. People who are motivated and will not take failure at face value, and are proactive rather than reactive as a general rule. I'm the person who loves to play the Pirate Captains, the Rebel Leaders, and the Communist Agitators of the world. Give me a platform to play a character like that and you will NOT be disappointed.

IC Limits

I'm up for most anything, to be honest. I have some triggers and things I'm unwilling to write out, but mostly not things I'd be comfortable putting down here and the likelihood of most of them coming up at all is slim to none anyway.

I prefer fade to black as well, just as a general thing.

Plots I'd Like

At the present moment, I don't particularly have any specific ones that I REALLY want to do so I'll just go over some of the specific tropes that I really enjoy playing out and will probably come back to edit this when it's not 1AM and I'm not too tired to remember a lot. I do prefer more action-y overarching plots if there is one, but I'm more than fine with a more sandbox-y start as well as long as we make something of it. Overarching narratives are the things that grab me, not necessarily the specific mini plots if that makes sense.

Star-Crossed lovers is one that I absolutely LOVE playing out. For one reason or another, two characters just can't be together despite how much they want to be. It could be because of politics, their social class difference, because one of them made an oopsie and became a wanted criminal, but whatever it is means that society would never accept a union. Bonus points if their lives diverged for years and a reunion is in the works with both of them being very different people than the other remembers. There are a ton of variations of this, but this is one trope that for some reason I never get tired of playing from basically every angle.

Another thing I really like to get into is politics and the dynamics on how a group/nation works. This is the political science graduate in me, but I find the way that groups/nations/etc. are organized and run on a day to day basis and the personal relationships that often define how they are run to be immensely interesting. To use a Game of Thrones analogy, I find the workings of the Small Council and the friendships/hatreds therein and how they effect the entirety of Westeros to be absolutely fascinating.

Other Information

In regards to communication, I just want to be treated like an adult and have open lines. If there's an issue big or small, just communicate with me. I promise I won't break down into tears because you didn't like my post or you're unsure of where to go next because I may have gotten a little too excited and glossed over some things that ended up being pretty important. I am not going to get my feelings hurt over little things, and I would like to just work out any issues or even day to day things like 'hey I have X thing coming up and I won't be able to post for 2 weeks' -- just let me know! I'd much rather know what I did so I can try and fix it rather than just have you ghost away because you thought I might be upset or something.
