Vexxor is set in post-apocalyptic times, 2159 in what was formerly known as Russia. Nuclear war destroyed most of Earth around the 2020's leaving a decaying husk in its wake. Since humanity was at its weakest, demons used the opportunity to become the dominant species on Earth; however, demons need humans to survive and humans were dying out faster than they could repopulate. This caused a 43 year span of time where the world laid in shambles without society, structure, or order known as the Dark Days. Nearing the end of the Dark Days, a group of demons began herding humans in a small settlement in Old Russia.
This group would eventually become Vexxor as the population grew through survivors traveling to this new city to rebuild. In 2070, Vexxor was founded. Humans and demons lived in relative peace after the introduction of quick-grown human clones used to satiate the demon populace without damaging the already scarce natural human one. It's home to over half the world's remaining population (roughly 12 million Vexxor residents) and is currently on the brink of a civil war between demons and humans. The majority of humans are confined to the Inner City, a rich, lush cyberpunk land cut off from the rest of the world. Demons and Inner City outcasts are restricted to the Warehouse Districts, outer regions of the city plagued by crime factions.
Although human clones were supposed to fix the divide between humans and demons, the most recent governor has made sure the two would stay at odds. And now in present time, 2159, the factions are slowly working towards the end goal of finding a way to reset the social classes by powering down the Inner City's main computer grid which would allow demons access to the Inner City. But they're still a long ways off from ever accomplishing that. Vexxor itself is a mega-metropolis with neo-retro aesthetics through and through. Due to nuclear winter, the city never sees the sun and lives in perpetual darkness. Only the glow of neon keeps them lit. The energy Vexxor outputs keeps the city from freezing over, as outside of the Warehouse Districts and Inner City, the rest of the world is locked in a frozen, irradiated wasteland. The police force in the city is known as the CDC. They're an 'arrest first ask questions later' style of oppressive authority than can and will enforce Human Protection laws with ample force.
