I went through a phase where I was really into space art. As always I have a kinda "need to be able to do it" drive when I get into something. It's basically how I've learned everything I know. This is one of the final space scenes I did, it's all photoshop. The planet was created via many layers of work, water, land, clouds, etc all have some sort of depth which I was really proud of. By this point I was also pretty decent with brushwork so I was happy with that as well. The moon I actually cheated on, I had a picture of a rock wall that I used to texture the land and give it some depth of it's own.

Thanks! I've been toying with the idea of doing another space scene soon. It's been a long time since I did one, and recently for a project I was working on I did some planet concept art that made me want to do more.

Ooooh, this is beautiful, and I love that your planet has depth to it instead of just flat textures, I never would have thought of doing continents as a separate layer from the ocean to give it some height. It all just looks really pretty.
