Valiant Hearts

Introduction

Valiant Hearts is an alternate reality Dragon Age roleplay site that takes place after the events of Trespasser. Valiant Hearts is set in a Thedosian reality where the veil between the Fade and Thedas has been removed, and we encourage members to explore the differences of this reality. VH employs a lot of member-based decisions and we encourage our members to know that almost any plot is possible, they just need to reach out to talk to the staff team about ideas they are uncertain of.

The staff team behind Valiant Hearts have put a lot of thought into the lore changes that can be experienced onsite; BioWare only gives out half-finished lore, so as fans of the franchise, we feel that we have done an appropriate amount of worldbuilding so as to keep our site different enough that the change in reality is easily visible, while also supporting the lore that BioWare provided us with.

While franchise characters may come onsite, the staff team promotes original characters as well and will be working to create plots with the member base that allow both franchise characters and original characters to interact with the overall site arc in equal amounts. VH does not favor franchise characters over original characters.

Our style of writing on VH is third person, past or present tense. The only thing we ask you to adhere to is third person POV, otherwise it can get confusing. Valiant Hearts does not have a wordcount, however we do have many incentives that you can learn about on the shop & currency page of the guidebook, that encourage our writers to write.

VH has profile applications, and we do not require plotters or shippers, but if a member wanted to create a plotter or a shipper, we wouldn't stop them from doing so.

The Valiant Hearts Staff is dedicated to ensuring that representation is written in a respectful manner, however we are human and may make mistakes. If we do make mistakes please let us know. If you happen to see something disrespectful happening onsite please contact a member of the staff team and we'll deal with it appropriately.

Site Plot

The year is Dragon 9:48, and the world is once again shaken by both natural and the unnatural forces. There's a lot in play, ever since Fen'Harel removed the Veil from its place between the worlds, losing his own life in the process. Thedas is reverting to a similar nature as the one the Evanuris knew, the Thedas that the Dalish tell stories about. Whether that is a good thing or not, is yet to be seen.

The Kingdoms of Thedas are each suffering in their own way, with unique canon characters that have been created and placed for adoption. These plots are wide-open, and members who choose to take a ruler of a Kingdom, may alter and change the Kingdom plotline as their character would see fit. Valiant Hearts encourages huge plot changes; we just ask that you talk to the staff team before going through with it, so we can note the change, and ensure that it does not affect any other plot that is in place. Or, surprise us, and derail our plots.

The Chantry suffered a horrible blow when the Divine Victoria was killed by an assassin, and the Grand Enchanter Charlotte was right behind her. Without Vivienne holding the position of Divine Victoria, the Chantry let the Circles fall into a disarray, and eventually, most Circles dissolved. They have yet to recover, and the hunt for a new Divine is underfoot. Mages hold more power in this post-Veil world, a frightening amount of power, and the Chantry has yet to reveal whether they are going to allow the mages to live peacefully, or not.

10/22/23: Members voted on a 14 day reservation period for face claims, wanted ads, canons and franchise roles.

09/21/23: We're holding our 11th activity check and wrapping up an event.

04/01/2023: - Check out our Fools' Day announcement, and learn about new ways to level your character, earn gold, and a potential site-wide anniversary scheduled for August. We're seeking ideas, and we'd love to hear from the crowd.

02/01/2023 - As you all know, Frizbee posted an announcement. In this announcement, she announces that she is going to be stepping back from her role as an IC Staffer. We love Friz, and she's going to be around in smaller ways that are less taxing on her at this time. Per this announcement, please redirect all IC questions to Ivy, ShyLeviathan and Bach. 

01/05/2023 - Woah, guys. I just had to type 2023~ We're so happy that all of you are joining us for this New Year! 12/12/2022 - A good month! Almost everyone met our activity check! Good job, folx! This month's check is just a check-in. This check-in will go live on Dec 20th through Jan 3. 11/10/2022 - Profile Updates, Ahoy! I (Ivy) have been updating the character profile. The profile is now fully editable by the members, and a lot of the extra coding that staff had been doing to account for foci and archetypes is embedded into the profile. There are now new fields for you, and we're working quickly behind the scenes to update the systems that go with archetype and foci.

10/06/2022 - Happy Halloween, or Samhain, Solstice, and any other holiday I'm not aware of! (I know, it's early, but dammit October is definitely Hallows month). This month's announcement has a lot of goodies, from OOC scavenger hunt, to IC changes and some events! Please check that out here.

7/24/22 - The site is officially open! 😄 Advertising is beginning and we're excitedly RPing.

7/5/22 - Most of the site lore and guidebook is done, opening day is slated to be 7/08/22. Active advertisement will begin then.

6/24/22 - Welcome to the world of Valiant Hearts! Please be mindful that the site is in SOFT OPEN and things are still being added. Some of our guidebook pages are currently offline, as they are not in-use or created. You may see these things come online over the course of the next few weeks.
