Elena 546 Share Posted October 30, 2017 I am tired of people who don't write with each other, and who don't branch out. RPGs are supposed to be collective, social, because otherwise you'd write alone or privately with 1-2 persons... 2 1
Seneca 16 Share Posted October 30, 2017 I'm so tired of my own flakiness. Few ideas draw me like they used to, and those that I do get excited about gradually fade away into a big gray lump of 'meh'. These days it's not so much a lack of interesting roleplays that prevents me from joining new sites, it's the knowledge that I'm going to disappoint someone when I eventually fade away.
William 4 Share Posted October 30, 2017 I am so tired of one-up-man-ship... People trying to get ahead at the expense of others. And the drama that comes from low self-esteem or no self-esteem and attempting to put the blame where blame don't need to go. 4 “Write something to suit everybody and scarcely anyone will care for it; Write something to suit yourself and many people will like it.” My Personal Site for Roleplaying ~ ~ All three (3) are unique, and inclusive Play-by-Post (P-b-P), 18+, roleplaying communities on Jcink Premium dedicated to the ahistorical fiction of the French Empire during the Napoleonic Era, the Old West Wyoming Territory circa 1872, and the Venetian Empire in the 16th century. jenneral_jennson 154 Share Posted October 31, 2017 I think I've said it before but I'll say it again because goddamn. I'm so sick and tired of the "my muse won't cooperate" or "*sigh* I have no muse" or "Someone kick my muse into gear for me". Basically when someone doesn't want to write and blames it on their "muse". Go suck an egg. 2 4 http://www.witchlightrp.com/index.php
Phear Lap 6 Share Posted November 1, 2017 I'm so tired of other people who contact your plotter, then never commit to that thread they promised. I mean, come on, dude! YOU pounced. Where did you go? so disheartening when you're the new player.. it feels likes small talk.

Elena 546 Share Posted December 4, 2017 (edited) @Rune, I do it if I don't receive any reply, because I have no confidence the message was seen and understood. (Once I did it because I didn't understand there was a reply for me, since it wasn't done using my words and I didn't know that slang expression). I am so tired of being ignored... My particular complaint is when it isn't anything relevant. Most recently it's one individual repeatedly announcing that they need to get started on Christmas shopping... They've said it multiple times and it got responded to the first time and if now just a broken record. StormWolfe 557 Share Posted December 4, 2017 ...of players saying, "I don't have anything in mind, but if you want to write something, my characters are free." I seriously dislike contacting someone about a scene (threads I guess is the normal term) unless I have a good idea of what I want it to be about, a goal to accomplish - like moving the characters forward in a relationship of some type - and an ending (was the goal accomplished, are they now better friends or implacable enemies). I hate being asked if I want to write something! Well, yes! I'm on an RPG site so obviously I want to write something. Just please contact me with an idea of why you want to involve your character in a thread with mine. I'm usually amenable and will help flesh out ideas. Just tired of being expected to do all the heavy lifting! /end rant LOL 2 1 2 Someone somewhere went to sleep and dreamed us all alive. Dreams get pushed around a lot, and I doubt if we'll survive. Rune 1,099 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I am guilty of that. I usually try to follow up with brainstorming. On that note... When you throw ideas at someone and they give vague useless responses. "Whatever." Maybe try helping? I already want to end our thread and it hasn't even started. 1 Heart of the Community 2018 Cry Wolf - 18+ AU Mercy Thompson (Urban Fantasy) RP
Icewolf 258 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I've sometimes found people will want to thread, but don't seem to have any idea on where to start it. It's just a vague 'this character should have a thread with this character'. If they have a rich history for their character, I can usually find some reason why the characters would interact, but when they don't? I have no idea where to start. I get a bit tired of coming up with things. 'There's the want to rp?' request that you get dmed on twitter occasionally, but if they don't have an idea in mind, I can't always come up with something. It's worse if the character in question in an OC. 1 Legends of Arda Character Archives
Rune 1,099 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Bonus: they want to rp but also refuse to pick a character they want to rp with and instead just want you to pick someone at random and throw them at someone random off their roster. So you just get this "let's thread!" And then get tagged with no clue as to what is happening. 1 2 Heart of the Community 2018 Cry Wolf - 18+ AU Mercy Thompson (Urban Fantasy) RP
Popular Post Bass 26 Popular Post Share Posted December 5, 2017 Incoming! Some unpopular opinions ahead. I promise, I am a much more inviting person than these little mini rants are going to make me out to be... *questions whether or not to hit submit* I'm tired of being forced to rp with people I have no desire to rp with just because admin want the site to look active or feel inclusive. I get it. You want a "close community." Great. But I'm not going to rp with people that I genuinely do not want to play with just because you put it in a rule. I am here to have fun, and when I see someone who rps by ignoring the other characters and only reading what they want to read, I'm not going to thread with them, and no amount of "BUT YOU GOTTA CUZZA RULES" is going to change my mind. I'm tired of being expected to just rp with whoever wants to rp with me just because, and if I refuse, it is immediately my fault for not being more inclusive. I'm more than willing to roleplay with all sorts of different writers, but I don't have to play with everyone. Period. I don't owe an excuse. If you want to know why, ask and I'll give you an honest response you may not want to hear, but I'm not required to write with anyone. I do it because I want to, and the other person's feelings come secondary to that. I do not apologize. I know myself well enough to know when I'm really not going to enjoy writing with another person, and I refuse to make myself miserable for the sake of "inclusiveness." I'm tired of people wanting to have relationships, familial/friendly/romantic, and not wanting to discuss anything at all. Especially when they expect a fully developed relationship without having any sort of history with them. I'm tired of people who latch so hard onto face claims that they will ruin plots for other people. I joined a site and used a face that apparently was psuedo-reserved, because you couldn't reserve faces on this site, for an admin's personal plot and got treated like garbage for it. They essentially ran me off the site so they could keep the face open for their ad. Almost every site that uses face claims I have ever been on has had drama over face claims when they are only supposed to be for visual aesthetic and not define the character or game. I'm tired of people assuming what kind of player I am and then trying to fault me when I don't do what they wanted me to do. If you actually take the time out of your day to talk to me and tell me your expectations, I can let you know where I fall short of those. If you just assume I already know that you require 5 posts a day, you are about to be really pissed off at me for something that is completely your own personal issue. Especially because I try to take my time to make a detailed introduction to myself that explains my own style and requirements on every site I invest in so other players know what they are getting with me. I'm tired of starting a thread with someone, that someone making it a first encounter situation of their own choice, and then all of a sudden wanting to make out or asking if our characters are in a relationship now when they have literally only said maybe six sentences between them. I am all for romance plots. I'm for smutty plots. I'm not against one night stands. But when we plot that you want them to be friends, have them just meet, and then try to take my pants off, I'm not going to be into it. I'm tired of getting excited for a plot, getting into the thread, and then having the other player completely ignore everything my character does or says. I don't know exactly when it started, but this has become a recurring issue on every single site I have participated on for quite a while. It may only be one person a site, but there is always someone who I manage to thread with that just completely ignores everything from my setting to the words out of my character's mouth and does things so incredibly improbable in response to my post that I can't help but wonder if I'm being intentionally trolled. I'm an easy flow kind of person. I can work with almost anything, but why bother finishing a thread when my posts don't actually matter anyway? I'm tired of the three ring circus that is running a site. There are so many different things you have to keep up with at all times that it can really kill any desire to actually play at the end of it. Probably why I've decided my newest site is a purely sharing my rp setting with anyone interested in passing through with minimal claim work and no real heavy rules. I always end up getting more wrapped up in how to get new members, cleaning up the forum, and what contests we need to run than the plots that prompted me to start the site in the first place. I'm tired of hunting for the right place for me. Everyone always says, "Well if it isn't right for you, move on and find something that is." But I've been roleplaying for a long time and I've yet to find a place that I fully fit in. Even the ones I build turn into fan service for the members or other admin and end up warping them into something that doesn't fit me anymore. No more, yo! This time is my time. If people join, great! If they don't, that's cool, too. Best of luck on your journey, my friend! 2 1
