AdAshtra 14 Share Posted September 27, 2019 Oh I'm so on the I hate sigs train. Also, years after this thread started: I hate cboxes. They're out-dated and gross and they make a site look inactive if you don't use it like you use discord. Even if there is a "Check us on Discord we're active, we swear" caveat. Just put a widget on your page and have a cbox bot for anonymous members. Also, I hate every and all html templates. Popular Post aspringrevival 10 Popular Post Share Posted October 9, 2019 My biggest unpopular opinion: I think people put too much stock in established "rules" of writing. Like, epithets are fine in moderation, a little purple prose isn't always terrible, and who cares if your sentence is long as heck with a million commas and starts with the word "But". If I get a vibe for your characters voice and can follow what's happening then I am 100% okay with playing fast and loose with the "rules" of writing. I can read any ol Jim's block of strung together words that follow all the rules but it is so much more likely to feel lifeless to me. I like to see a writer's personal stamp on their work and besides, language is forever in flux. We make the rules. So long as it's coherent, what's the issue? 1 3
