  1. Oh wow! That's crazy! My condolences to you and your roleplay!
  2. Working on a RP for the first time in like 2 years. Feels pretty good.

  3. So roleplays tend to have groups to give characters colors etc to identify them. Depending on the roleplay depends on how the groups are formulated. My curiosity is, how do you like the groups to be. Some roleplays group by Race (most common in Suernatural or multi-race/species sites) Some roleplays group by actual groups (Coven 1, Pack 1 etc) Some roleplays just group it by active and inactive players. How do you like to see it?
  4. We're glad to entertain you my dear! I look forward to seeing your posts!

    face claim question

@Daisy To say that the whole thing is because they're dead that they can't come have no say in whether their image is used is a little uncalled for? I feel like there is a better word I just can't think of it. Really, saying that this is the reason is silly. Alan Rickman isn't going to go onto social media and say "I would like you to stop using my images from movies and photoshoots, especially if they are of Snape or the Sheriff of Nottingham. I do not want to be associated with this character anymore. I am Hans Gruber and only Hans Gruber." Celebrities are fully aware that their face is immortalized in a movie or TV Show or magazine. They sign contracts and make money off of those things. I mean consider Lucille Ball getting out of her grave to be pissed off that she has thousands of memes of her: I think she would actually be MORE upset to find out that none were made because people weren't sure about her feelings on the subject. She worked hard for her career and on that show. For it to be ignored because she was dead would be extremely disrespectful to the legacy that she built. I feel that way for any celebrity that has poured their life into their work. Just because they have passed doesn't mean that they should be ignored. The only place that you are going to get a grey area from me is for modern day models, especially the freelance ones and the ones that their image is literally their livelihood. Unfortunately, these sorts of people are not ones that you get a highlight on a discord server and find out that they have died.
  6. Just my random sigs and things. Do not use any of these as they were made for and by me. Thank you.

    I'm still not an initiate

Hey there. You have not been promoted as posting in the welcome section no longer contributes to post count due to spamming of the area for promotion. The only areas that count toward post count are our rpg conversation areas (like Roleplay Chat and Roleplay Management) and contribution areas (like playbys, and articles). Please read and contribute your input to the community so that you can be promoted.
  8. John is the owner/operator on Jcink. You can commune with him best on his support forums at jcink.com As for transferring I think there is a way to pull the data but it requires a spider bot. I've seen it before but I think copying and pasting is more reliable.
  9. We had to make this change as people would join and do playby dumps instead of following rules.

    Post requirements

To be clear most things DO contribute but not all show immediately. Posting in Playbys will contribute to your total count but it does require a moderator to approve it before it shows in your count, we also gate-kept this due to people joining and not reading the requirements to submit. We moderate these for a number of reasons but primarily to verify that the submissions are following rules. We have had a number of times that porn has come up but its more often then not that things are chosen with no supporting image or people do image "dumps" instead of just submitting images that support the options available. For the most part the only things that do not contribute to count is going to be posting in staff related areas (like this one) or status updates. If you're finding that things aren't contributing it could be because they are not provided until approved (so like the playby directory) or its an area that isn't considered a contribution because its not intended to be. This means commenting on or creating new guides will contribute, submitting to the gallery for avatars, will contribute and more. We just sectioned off parts.
  11. Proboards has ALWAYS been known for its stricter more hands on policy about being a maximum of a PG-13 place. (For the most part 2-2-2 on the RPG Rating scale). They won't even allow you to get a backup, they will straight up remove it and tell you to go fuck yourself basically. I also remember them not investigating either. So if you were reported... you would be shut down. To the point that vindictive ex-members got sites shut down on Proboards. As for Jcink there are quite a few themes out there and its more granular but also more customizable. I have a sort of start that I never finished on how to theme it in the Guides section.
  12. Too much transparency and then you are breaking privacy for some users, especially over private matters. It gets particularly sticky when when the matter is a user reporting another user. I don't think necessarily everything should be hidden, that's for sure, but that doesn't have to be in the display of the decision being made and how it was made. By all means, this is a lesson I have been trying to teach my kids but it doesn't matter why I said no, I said no. That's the end of the discussion. By all means I don't believe staff discussions should be made public at all. I won't lie, while I'm nosy as hell and would love to see the staff sections of those really catty admins or the ones that are really stuck up and you find out that all they do is talk shit about their own members pretending like their own doesn't stink, it really would just lead to discourse overall seeing everything they do and why they do it. Staff also need a place away from their members to be able to convene and either be like "yeah that question hasn't been asked in the last ten minutes.... ugh" before they go "Hi member! The answer to your (really dumb) question is here!" This is also the place that you can poke or prod a staff member to an action they may be missing. "Hey did anyone answer that question from XYZ?" Seeing that stuff would probably give a member the feel goods but then it can also cause strife "well they poked the others about that question, why hasn't mine been answered or poked about yet?" It also leads to high levels of scrutiny, and litigating (questioning of decisions) that is highly unnecessary and will just cause stress for the staff which in turn will burn them out on their own game to where it fizzles. Of course the counter to that, that I know most if not all of you are going to say is: Well my staff isn't like that? I hate to break it to you all but all staff argue, all staff have disagreements, all staff still make good and bad choices. Additionally, all members will want answers to questions about decisions and even try to explain themselves to get the decision overturned, see a comment and think its about them and get offended, look at a staff member and think they don't like them because they took a comment that the staff member said out of context. Really I think that the transparency should be in the important matters which is the outward decisions made that affect their members at large. Individual members need to be dealt with individually and not publicly as it can be embarrassing and cause social conflict within the group (which is often very small). Everything else stays between the staff for the sanity of the rest. Just thinking about this topic, it makes me remember how much I don't want to be in the room with my manager during his meetings as they discuss the semantics and numbers and how teams are doing and how individuals are slacking. Its sort of the same thing.
  13. And those sorts of sites DO exist! However you will more often find a site that claims it, but doesn't mean it.
