Popular Post Arceus 1,082 Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2019 Once upon a long - ... okay, actually, I think I last said it maybe two weeks ago, and I've said it repeatedly over the years; I said, "If I was ever going to get my perfect role-playing software, well I'd have to code the damned thing myself." Hello, my name's Kendrarceus, I love how that slurs together well, I have no life and a lot of time on my hands, and I'm kind of into making my own life harder than it needs to be for funsies. This may be a bit early, but given how quickly its development is trucking along, maybe not so much, so, I present Vesta. Once I made an automated battle system with tabletop-style elements for SMF. It was pretty cool and did a lot of stuff, and I said "Here lies my magnum opus." Oh, my young self, how young and naive you were. Vesta is the culmination of everything I've learned over the last decade of coding. It takes the things I love the most about the software that I've used over the years during my role-playing career, and rolls them all into one. It was designed from the ground up to be easy to use, easy to configure, easy on the eyes, phone, and also screen readers, free of all the extra sparkly junk we really don't actually need, and have the Must Have Mods for several different systems already built into it from day one, thereby dropping what we don't need in favour of what we do. It's essentially been envisioned as the bridge between several different forum software, as well as finally bridging together joint-post play styles and play-by-post. Yep, you heard that right. Instead of ACM3, ya'll get Vesta. Currently Vesta is in Alpha 2 build, I just got there yesterday after restructuring the entire system and condensing some helper classes into a single class... aptly named helper. It is being coded with Apache 2.4, MariaDB (MySQL) 10, and PHP 7.0, with a MVC logic, and primarily object-oriented PHP. If I had to take a guess, and I don't make any promises about this wild guess because life happens, Vesta may be ready for Beta 1 by summer 2019, maybe around Julyish. (NO PROMISES.) I intend for Vesta to be donationware. What this means is you can get it for a donation fee, but how much you give is up to you; a dollar or ten, you still get it. Now, this coterie is specifically so I can keep anyone interested in its development aware of the progress I've made, and share preview images, as well as have a place for interested parties to ask questions about it and submit feature requests/suggestions. I will say now, there are a lot of things that I could have decided to implement into Vesta that I won't be, so there is a chance your feature request/suggestion will be outright rejected. It's nothing personal, I just have a specific goal with Vesta, and as I am one person coding this entire thing, I need to stay aligned to that goal or Vesta will just flat never get done. And that's sad. :c Fun fact: its alpha 1 and 2 builds score very high on accessibility and SEO, and load and become interactive in 3 seconds. (That's fast.) Vesta alpha 2 also scores extremely high on performance, so apparently my improvements worked out. 5 2 I am the darkness, always watching, always listening, ALWAYS THERE.
