Bio Form - Possible Bug

Now, it's likely I broke it somehow when testing out creating the bio form and putting up test characters.

 

However, I cannot rearrange bio form sections and their fields. At least I cannot move the most recently created one (it's called Liaisons).  I looked at the database, but did not see anything obviously wrong with the form table - doesn't mean there wasn't something, just not obvious to me so didn't touch it.

Anyway, don't know if this is a bug or just a me thing.

Testing this to see if it's a Gaia issue or an Aereth issue, and so far I have to think it's Aereth.

So, quick question, do you get the green saved bar when you move the fields around, or does it not do that?

You nailed it! I am not getting the Saved notice. Even after deleting the 'new' section and fields and redoing them from scratch. So something has gone wonky on Aereth. I am going to just layout my character sheet guide as it will be once the Aereth issue is tracked down and killed with a flamethrower.

Alright, so the green bar not appearing means the scripting isn't firing for some reason. Probably I'll have to look at it and watch the scripting because it sounds like there's a something preventing it from firing when it should.

I bet I fudged up something when I attempted to add the script for WidgetBot and broke everything. I have not worked on the bio form since then until a couple of days ago.

Did you actually mess with the scripting in the admin panel though? Because the scripts for front-end and the ones for back-end should be separate.

(Figuring out where this is messing up may be kinda tricksy.)

I don't think I did. I used your directions in Discord and added it here: In frame.template.php at the end of template_html_above() . When it white screened on me, I backed it out and didn't try again.

Alright. The scripting should be working then. I'll have to actually look at it and see if I can suss out the problem...

Or um. You can do inspect element on it, try moving fields, and see if it clocks any console script errors?

I'll try that. I could probably also resort to doing a clean install after saving off some of the posts and test characters stuff.

If you need to do a clean install, just save your theme folder, and the main images folder, and then reinstall, replace those two folders and the database with the original.

Question - an I have not pulled up the file structure yet - Could I reinstall just the admin side as a first effort? After saving it first, of course.

Yeah, just replace the admin folder with a fresh copy from the .zip archive. c:

I'll do that in a bit and if that doesn't fix the issue, then I'll look at a clean install.

Oh, one other thing to try is copying over the default_admin folder in /application/themes from the .zip to your server, it'll replace the admin theme so if, by chance, it did the thing it was doing it beta and messed up the wrong theme, it'll fix it.

One question before I give up, do another back up, and delete the site in favor of a totally 100% clean install.

 

I very carefully deleted what needed deleted after making my backups, then uploaded clean files from the gaia zip off IP Tech. I uploaded the clean files.

 

Now, when I click on Admin Panel, it takes me to https://aereth.com/admin/login but not to the actual ACP login page (it's taking me to the forum index minus the sidebar). I know you did the thing so it would open in a new tab. But since I have clean Admin and application/themes/default_admin files, that should not cause an issue, right? It should be gone?

 

PS: I checked my file structure in my FTP client and in the cPanel's File Manager. I did not see any discrepancies...
