Variable Path for Poster's Custom Profile Fields

Okay, so I've spent like the last eight or so hours trying to figure this one out. I'm able to figure out most of the variable paths for adding certain information into the poster's sidebar with no problem. However, I'm having a difficult time getting it to display custom profile fields. Assuming it's possible to do this, what is the path? I feel like I'm missing something here:

 

'.$msg->poster->MISSING->fie_specie.'

I've tried field, fields, character->field, character->fields, fullbio['fie_specie'] and several others to no avail.

$msg->poster->fields['fie_specie'], should be.
