Making lists easier..?

Making lists easier to keep track of, for staff updates & the like. I've seen a few different codes used (no idea where the code came from, that's why I'm here) where the information is posted within the jcink CSS and the list threads pull from that to create your character census or other site lists. I've tried to make the one from fizzyelf work, with little luck because I'm just *not* as good at coding as I thought I was lol. 

But ANYWAY, is there any sort of code, java, css etc, that makes list updates easier on the staff members? Or pointers/tips and tricks that I should be aware of?
