Arceus 1,082 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Periodically during the month of October, I'll be posting discussion topics that challenge you to think about your story and where you're going with it. You also get a small amount of points for your NaNo House for participating, so you can get your house an early lead during Preptober! For this Preptober topic, introduce us to your favourite side character! I am the darkness, always watching, always listening, ALWAYS THERE. (If you're interested in Plain of Ice, message me, it's private. Bleach site, non-canon.)
Yume 99 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Side characters. So I'm going to intro 2 First is a canon side character. His name is Magnus Bane, he's a very tall half-dutch half-indoneisan warlock who happens to be the son of one of the princes of hell - Asmodeus. (Warlocks are the children of humans and demons, after all). He has cat eyes as his "mark". He's bisexual, and very flamboyantly open about everything (except the really important stuff to him). He's a lot of fun and ends up adding an edge of sarcasm and antagonism to most scenes without being an outright antagonist. He's a good guy, he mostly wants the good guys to win, he just also has his own agenda and would actually like to be left alone for once. Second is Alyssa Fay, a fourteen year old warlock child with heterochromia and purple hair as her marks. She has a greater demon named Belial for a father, and is introduced to the story intially because she is caught up in the main plot - that being she was almost murdered by the main antagonist group and her survival was kind of an accident. Some must be warriors that others may live in peace.
FizzyElf 13 Share Posted October 25, 2019 Hilde Vasiliev. 60 years old when the book starts in 1984, she spent her youth struggling to appear the perfect communist citizen, fought against Hitler as part of the legendary Night Witches air bombing regiment, serving with distinction despite the prejudice against someone with family ties to both the Volga Germans and the Russian Jewish community, adopted a pair of war orphans since she couldn't have children of her own, and is now the undisputed head of a large clan who all perfectly embody the ideals of Soviet corruption and cronyism. She's the great-aunt of one of the main characters, and intermittently serves as coordination hub for the younger characters as they deal with plot things like tracking down terrorist cells in multiple cities, and as a parental/grandmother figure for the teenagers struggling to deal with puberty and romance. Oh, and she's a vampire. She's getting her own prequel set during WWII eventually.
