Anonymous/Invisible status

Question

Does anonymous log in status exist on the Initiative?  Sometimes members of a site prefer to log in and check things very quickly but don't necessarily want to be seen by others if they are unable to interact at the time. Or they simply want to go about what they are doing without it being displayed anywhere. Of course like Jcink and the like, admins can see all, this is just the general membership I'm asking about.

Personally, it doesn't really worry me either way, but I do know people that prefer to use that option if it is avaliable.

Hey @Dusty! We actually disabled the anonymous login feature for a few reasons when we upgraded to IPS 4.0. The biggest reason is that many people never come out of the anonymous status and so recent activity is never logged. Since many of our features (including the directory, character exchange and writing partners sections) rely on a recent activity date to provide onlookers with knowledge of whether a member has visited the site and posted recently this option was disabled.

In its place we added a truly anonymous option allowing members to post anonymously in topics around the forum in case they feel their identity may compromise their opinion or provide information without context to other users so that involved parties are unaware of whether a post or topic is in direct reference to them.

I hope that helps!
